Swimming

We can't stress enough the importance of water safety, especially when North Queensland has some of the most beautiful waterways and beaches. However, there is a gap in the way swimming and water safety is delivered for people with a physical or intellectual disability and we are here to close that.
This is in an endeavour to reduce the number of drownings of people with a disability in Queensland. Did you know that people with autism are 3x more likely to drown than people without? That's just one disability... what about the rest? Royal Life Saving Australia has stated that 339 people lost their lives to drowning last year (2022) and cardiac conditions, epilepsy, autism, Alzheimer's and diabetes were often involved in these drowning cases. Queensland also hits the highest number of drownings each year compared to any other state. We can't normalise those numbers and are doing what we can to deliver inclusive swimming lessons for the young and old.

It's never too late to learn to swim!
